Tripoli (Arabic: طرابلس, Ṭarābulus; Berber:"Oea" or "Wy't" ) is the capital city and the largest city of Libya, with a population of about 1.1 million people in 2015. It is located in the northwest of Libya on the edge of the desert, on a point of rocky land projecting into the Mediterranean and forming a bay. It includes the port of Tripoli and the country's largest commercial and manufacturing centre. It is also the site of the University of Tripoli. The vast Bab al-Azizia barracks, which includes the former family estate of Muammar Gaddafi, is also located in the city. Colonel Gaddafi largely ruled the country from his residence in this barracks.

That's right this is indeed a restaurant within the ancient ruins of a Roman city. They serve up traditional Libyan fare including baby camel cooked in a clay pot which they break in front of you!, come here at night the atmosphere is fantastic.... only down side is its quite pricey

The restaurant is nicely redecorated and decoration is much better than before the revolution, but some of the food could be better. The mozzarella tastes like plastic and doesn't come close to the real Italian mozzarella di buffala. Spaghetti was OK and worth a second...MoreDear Sir, for me it was a real pleasure to be able to accommodate in Italian restaurant. We are pleased that want to return. It will be a nice opportunity to show our value. Thank you. See you soon. Giuseppe

This restaurant is on the east side of Green Square and actually provides two different types of dining. It is a round building on the south side of the road though the red sign is competely in Arabic so you won't know what it is called if you can't read Arabic script. The translation is the Castle restaurant. On the second floor it is more of a formal dining with international cuisine. The food is fine, not great and a little pricey up there. You'll find pasta and fish, risotto and chocolate cake, basically a mish mash of dishes with no real obvious theme. The best part of the place, in my opinion, is on the first floor and in the outside areas. Here you'll find casual meals such as salads, burgers, mixed meat grills, french fries and sandwiches. You get plenty of good food and the price is right. They also serve sheesha here so it is a great place to hang out for some of that as well. They put up tents outside in the cooler months to accomodate all year use. Being downtown near the medina, it is a place we often go when in that area.

Has been there for a work-team dinner. The table organization was OK, and capacity to cover all orders was adequate.
They serve very nice blood-lemon, and you should treat yourself with a Mid-Spicy Pasta with either sea fruits or grouper.
I did not like their overcharging the table reservation, as it was sky high compared to the market rate.

Located on the top floor of the Corinthia hotel near the Old Medina. Expensive but everything in that hotel is so that is to be expected. Went for a meal with my husband for our first wedding anniversary and generally enjoyed it. Beautiful ambience and tasty food. Given the price we have not been back since as this is the type of place we would save for a special occasion, (there is not much here in Tripoli that is "special occasion" worthy therefore we would reserve this as one of those). We paid about 120 LYD for a meal including appetizers, main course and desserts. Try the tajine - very nice!

This place serves up the best seafood couscous I've had in Libya!, it's a great change from all the fried crapp western food Tripoli is dishing up! Fantastic service and a neat location deep within the Medina. A little difficult to find but trust me keep looking

The coffee is expensive and well it's espresso... the outside patio is nice it's right in the old Medina beside the clock tower, WiFi isn't free either. Hmm there used to be a local cheap sheesha place here I think I'd rather have that.
