I wasn't sure what to expect from Huis Doorn (we were taken there as a suggested place to visit) but it proved to be so very interesting. The place is bursting with history, the significance of which is astounding. The guide that showed us around spoke excellent English and the whole group were transfixed with the explanations given. This place is a treasure trove of history.

Constructed in honour of Napoleon, in imitation of the Pyramid of Giza, this pyramid is made of earth and covered by grass. Metal stairs (steep!) go from ground level to the top where there is a stone-built tower. Interesting plaques give the history of the Pyramid and the era in which it was built (Dutch only). And arrows on the plaques helpfully indicate landmarks in the distance.

In the NMM at the former Soesterberg air base, the past, present and future of the Dutch armed forces come together. See our impressive collection at first hand and experience for yourself the exciting stories of our armed forces at the biggest museum about the Dutch military! The NMM has the most extraordinary collection of tanks, aircraft, armoured vehicles and helicopters in the Netherlands! Each one of them is unique and has its own story. Personal objects and moving stories also come to life at the NMM. You will be amazed how the Dutch armed forces are interwoven with the world around you!
The Netherlands National Military Museum tells the story of the Netherlands Army and Air Force over centuries. It's only a couple of years old and definitely on par with the some of the worlds best technological museums; e.g. the Smithsonian museums in Washington. Well worth more than one visit, suitable for all ages.

Interestingly thee Stable house is more well maintained (because they run is as a cafe now), than the interior of the main castle building. You castle entrance free is including the guided tour in Dutch, but they have some English subtitle video for you to watch and leaflet to read as you walk about the rooms they lead you to see. A lot of the original furniture were still there but quite torn looking, definitely the seat fabric were torn. Looking a little run down and sad. The castle ground looks well maintained, the orangerie is bookable for wedding parties. There are kitchen garden, green house, etc..

We visited Kasteel Duurstede today. While the park around and the castle itself look great, we realized the management rents this place for weddings and other organizations, so not only it was impossible to check the place from inside one guy approached us and let us know we should leave because of the wedding. Moreover, when there is such an organization they put some tables and parasols at the castle grounds and they do not fit with the character at all. In my opinion those type of cultural heritages should not be a toy for 21th century entertainment....What a shame...

You have a great variety of sports here, golf, tennis, basketball, badminton so on and so forth. The great hall can accommodate about 1,000 people for social functions.
Everything here is well-maintained in good conditions with abundant places for parking. The golf shop here sells a comprehensive stock of golf stuff.

Snack service to your chair and comfortable sofa style seats make this a first class cinema. The screens aren't the largest but the other amenities easily make up for that.
